Becoming a Resident

Choosing a Care Home

Moving to a care home is a major decision and it is important to find out as much as possible before making a choice. Ideally, potential residents are encouraged to visit Boucherne with their families to see and get a feel for the home and to meet and speak with the staff. Visitors are welcome to spend a day at the home, come for day care or even have a short stay.

Ann Barlow, our manager, will spend time with visitors at Boucherne to discuss all requirements and concerns and answer any questions, or meet with potential residents and their families at their home or in hospital.

Moving In

Everything possible will be done to help a new resident settle in and feel at home. Our staff will be with a new resident throughout their moving in and one will become their special contact, or key worker. They will find out how much help and support is needed and how a resident likes things done in all aspects of their life. This is recorded and becomes a resident's care plan which all the care team will follow.

Introductions to fellow residents and other care staff will be made whenever a resident feels ready and comfortable
